Day School
The Children's Guild offers special education day school programs for boys and girls ages 3-21 who are emotionally disturbed and demonstrate behaviors that interfere with attending regular school programs.
Steps to enroll a child in Children's Guild day school:
- Schedule an IEP team meeting. Before you can enroll your child in The Children's Guild, you must schedule a meeting with your child's IEP team. The team will discuss your child's situation; and if necessary, refer your child to a non-public school such as The Children's Guild.
- Contact The Children's Guild. We want to know your child's current situation (i.e., IEP), and we want to tell you about the programs and services we offer.
- Interview and Tour. The admissions director at The Children's Guild will contact you to bring your child in for an interview and tour of the school. You may also meet with other staff members, including the therapist, psychiatrist, school principal and others, at this time.
- Acceptance. Your child can attend school within a day of formal acceptance. However, it usually takes the referring school system seven to 10 days to schedule bus transportation.

Group Living Academy
The Group Living Program serves students ages 12 to 18 with a minimum I.Q. of 70. The homes are community-based so adolescents who are extremely violent or who are in need of incarceration are not accepted. The Guild also cannot offer programming for teens needing extensive medical care.
When beds are available, all candidates will be considered for The Children's Guild's group living Academy unless the child indicates any of the following disqualifying criteria:
- Primary diagnosis of alcoholism, drug addiction or severe brain damage
- Cognitive learning deficits severely limiting the individual's ability to benefit from the treatment modalities provided
- Assaultive, anti-social behavior presenting a danger to the life or safety of the individual and/or others
- Acute psychosis

Treatment Foster Care
The Children's Guild's treatment foster care program serves children from birth to age 21, with an emphasis on children 9 to 18, who are emotionally disturbed and/or delinquent, who need interim placements after discharge from acute hospitalizations or residential treatment, or who need intensive services that cannot be served effectively in a therapeutic group home or traditional foster care.
Permanency planning includes special needs adoption and family reunification whenever possible.
Steps to enroll a child in Children's Guild treatment foster care:
- Placing-agency representative mails referral packet to The Children's Guild for review.
- Director of admissions reviews the packet to determine if the student meets the admissions criteria.
- If referral is judged to be acceptable, the student and placing-agency representatives are invited to visit the group living program to determine if the placement is appropriate.
- If the placement is deemed acceptable, an admission date is established.
